LAHORE: In a groundbreaking display of healthcare leadership and policy discourse, Rashid Latif Khan University (RLKU) recently hosted the 4th International Medical Conference (IMC) 2026, organized by the Pakistan Association of Private Medical and Dental Institutions (PAMI). Themed “Healthcare in Action: Governance, Leadership & Reforms,” the event drew Pakistan’s most influential figures from the medical and dental sectors.

The auditorium buzzed with energy as Finance Minister Punjab Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Guests of Honor included Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, President of CPSP, Prof. Rashid Latif Khan, and Prof. Dr. Sumaira Rehman. Leaders and veterans of PAMI from across all provinces attended, including Ms. Sabahat Khan (President PAMI Punjab), Prof. Dr. Syed Razi Muhammad (President PAMI Sindh), Prof. Ghulam Murtaza Cheema, Prof. Mahwish Arooj, Prof. Yasir Niazi, Prof. Azhar Jadoon, Maj. Abdul Waheed Shaikh, Maj. Gen (R) Naeem Naqi, Mr. Riaz Janjua, and many senior educators and researchers.
The conference opened with Quranic verses and the National Anthem, followed by a warm welcome from Patron-in-Chief Prof. Dr. Sumaira Rehman. Key presentations included Ms. Sabahat Khan’s strategic policy framework on Pakistan’s medical education system and healthcare delivery, alongside Prof. Mahwish Arooj’s insights on governance and institutional reform.
A dynamic panel discussion engaged participants on pressing issues surrounding healthcare leadership, policy innovation, and education reforms. In his inspirational lecture, Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal highlighted CPSP’s efforts in supporting both public and private medical institutions, structured postgraduate training, and the development of world-class specialists. He quoted the Quran (translation): “The best of people are those who are most beneficial to [other] people.”
Prof. Gondal also shared CPSP’s latest milestones: 158 recognized private medical institutions, 2,370 supervisors, and 11,280 trainees enrolled in structured training programs, along with successful international collaborations with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, and Canada, fostering trainee exchange, simulation centers, and assessment frameworks. Feedback from Royal College Presidents on IMECON 26 was also highlighted.
The conference closed with a vote of thanks and a group photograph, leaving participants energized to implement innovative healthcare strategies and leadership reforms across Pakistan’s medical and dental landscape.
IMC 2026 reinforced the vital role of PAMI in bridging policy, education, and clinical practice, empowering medical and dental institutions to raise the standard of healthcare in the country.
