Bhitai Dental and Medical College hosts IMECON 2026 pre-conference AI workshop
MIRPURKHAS: The Bhitai Dental and Medical College hosted the pre-conference inaugural workshop of the International Medical Educational Conference (IMECON) 2026, marking an important academic milestone in the institution’s faculty development programme.
The workshop was organized by the Research and Development Department of Bhitai Dental and Medical College under the theme “Empowering academia with AI: Enhancing research and teaching practices.” The session aimed to introduce faculty members to the practical use of artificial intelligence in medical education, research writing, and teaching methodologies.
The workshop was jointly conducted by Dr. Muhammad Anique, Assistant Professor and Chairman of the Research and Development Department, and Prof. Dr. Ali Maqbool, external speaker from Isra University, Hyderabad. Both facilitators delivered interactive sessions designed to strengthen academic productivity and modernize teaching approaches through digital tools.
Prof. Dr. Ali Maqbool led a comprehensive session on the application of artificial intelligence in medical education, focusing on innovative teaching strategies and real-time classroom integration. His presentation included live, hands-on activities that demonstrated how AI can support curriculum delivery and student engagement.
Dr. Muhammad Anique guided participants through practical training on the use of artificial intelligence tools for research article writing. He demonstrated how these tools can assist faculty members in improving research quality, streamlining academic workflows, and enhancing scholarly output.
Senior and junior faculty members actively participated in the workshop, contributing to discussions and engaging in hands-on exercises. Participants expressed strong appreciation for the interactive format and described the sessions as highly relevant to their academic and research needs.
The academic initiative was conducted under the guidance of the Managing Director, Dr. Ghulam Mustafa, who commended both facilitators for their contribution and encouraged the Research and Development Department to organize more capacity-building workshops in the future.
At the conclusion of the workshop, shield awards were presented to Prof. Dr. Ali Maqbool and Dr. Muhammad Anique by the Managing Director, Dean, Associate Deans, and Vice Principals in recognition of their academic leadership and efforts in promoting artificial intelligence in medical education.
Organizers stated that such pre-conference academic activities play a vital role in preparing educators for emerging challenges in health professions education and ensuring that teaching and research practices remain aligned with global trends in digital learning and innovation.
