BADC Larkana conducts hands-on ART workshop for second-year dental students
LARKANA: The Bibi Aseefa Dental College (BADC) Larkana has taken another step toward strengthening practical dental education by organizing a hands-on workshop on Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (ART) for second-year students of Batch 13. The workshop was arranged by the Department of Community Dentistry as part of its ongoing efforts to promote preventive and minimally invasive dentistry among undergraduate students.
The session opened with an informative lecture by Prof. Dr. A. Bari Memon, Chairperson, Department of Community Dentistry, who highlighted the importance of ART in modern preventive and restorative dentistry. He explained how ART supports tooth preservation, improves access to basic dental care, and aligns with global trends in minimal intervention dentistry.
Following the lecture, a practical demonstration of the complete ART procedure was conducted on extracted natural carious teeth by Dr. Rashid Iqbal and Dr. Nadia Bhutto, Assistant Professors, Department of Operative Dentistry. The demonstration covered key clinical steps, including caries removal using hand instruments and placement of restorative material under ART principles.
