Pakistan showcases advancements in dentistry at 3rd International Health Sciences Conference
KARACHI: Global dental research and innovation are accelerating at an unprecedented pace. According to data from PubMed and the World Dental Federation (FDI), publications in dental sciences have risen by more than 40% over the past decade, with major advances in prosthodontics, digital dentistry, and minimally invasive treatments reshaping clinical practice and education worldwide. In Pakistan, this momentum has translated into growing scholarly contributions and participation in international forums — a trend most recently showcased at the 3rd International Conference on Emerging Trends in Health Sciences held at Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU), Larkana.
At the 3rd International Conference on Emerging Trends in Health Sciences, Bibi Aseefa Dental College (BADC) Larkana emerged as a powerhouse of innovation, research, and academic excellence, presenting advancements that underscore Pakistan’s growing footprint in global dentistry.

The dental session’s highlight was an invited lecture by Dr. Usman Bashir Shaikh, head of prosthodontics at Liaquat College of Medicine and Dentistry, Karachi, who presented on “Missing Teeth in Dentistry,” emphasizing modern diagnostic methods and rehabilitative approaches transforming patient care.
Representing BADC, Dr. Rashid Iqbal (Operative Dentistry) and Dr. Sana Sattar Shaikh (Prosthodontics) shared their research, reflecting the institution’s steadfast commitment to evidence-based practice and scholarly engagement. Moreover, six student research groups presented papers in free sessions, demonstrating strong undergraduate involvement in scientific exploration and academic discourse.
