LARKANA: The Bibi Aseefa Dental College (BADC), Larkana, recently brought together dental professionals and young practitioners for a focused, hands-on workshop on clear aligner therapy—an area that is steadily becoming central to modern orthodontic care.
The timing of this workshop is particularly important. As more patients seek aesthetic and minimally invasive treatment options, dentists are under growing pressure to move beyond theory and adopt practical, clinically relevant skills. This training directly responded to that need, offering participants real-world exposure to techniques that are increasingly shaping everyday dental practice.
Bridging the gap between theory and real-world clinical practice

The workshop was meticulously organized under the leadership of Dr Almas Rahoojo, Head of the Department of Orthodontics, whose academic vision and structured planning ensured a focused, engaging, and outcome-driven learning environment.
Participants were not only exposed to theoretical foundations but were also immersed in practical applications, addressing one of the most persistent gaps in dental education—translating knowledge into clinical execution.
Expert-led session brings global orthodontic trends to local practitioners

The scientific session was led by Dr Nadeem Hussain Jatoi, Consultant Orthodontist and Key Opinion Leader (KOL) of ClearPath Aligners, who delivered a comprehensive lecture covering:
- Modern concepts in clear aligner therapy
- Case selection strategies
- Biomechanics involved in aligner treatment
- Step-by-step clinical protocols
His session was followed by an interactive hands-on demonstration, allowing participants to directly engage with aligner systems and understand their practical implementation in real clinical scenarios.
Dr Jatoi’s insights highlighted how clear aligners are redefining orthodontic care globally, offering patients more comfortable, aesthetic, and predictable treatment options.
Strong participation reflects rising demand for clear aligner treatment

The workshop witnessed active participation from general dental practitioners from peripheral areas of Larkana as well as House Officers, underscoring the growing interest in adopting clear aligner therapy in routine practice.
Their enthusiastic engagement throughout both academic and practical sessions reflects a broader shift in Pakistan’s dental landscape, where clinicians are increasingly seeking training in digital and patient-friendly treatment modalities.
Young faculty contribution strengthens academic environment
Adding further academic value, Dr Murk, Lecturer in the Department of Orthodontics and a recent FCPS graduate, played an active role in facilitating the hands-on exercises.
Her involvement in guiding participants during practical sessions ensured personalized learning support, enhancing the overall effectiveness of the workshop and reinforcing the institution’s commitment to academic excellence.

A step forward for modern orthodontics in Pakistan
The workshop was widely appreciated by both participants and faculty, who regarded it as a meaningful initiative that successfully bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and clinical application.
More importantly, it signals a larger transition within Pakistan’s dental education system—towards embracing innovation, digital workflows, and evidence-based orthodontic practices.
As clear aligner therapy continues to gain traction globally, such initiatives are expected to play a crucial role in preparing Pakistani dentists to meet evolving patient expectations and international standards.
