JMDC dental team brings oral health awareness to Shahwaliyat school
KARACHI: The community dentistry team of Jinnah Medical And Dental College (JMDC) organized a comprehensive oral health awareness session and dental check-up at Shahwaliyat School, focusing on promoting better oral hygiene among children aged five to ten years.
The initiative was supervised by Dr. Muhammad Mohsin Haider, Head Of Department (HOD), Community Dentistry, and conducted as part of JMDC’s commitment to community-based dental health education. The activity reflected the college’s mission to bridge the gap between clinical expertise and community service, empowering children with essential oral hygiene knowledge.
During the session, house officers and demonstrators from JMDC examined around 200 students from pre-primary and primary classes. The young participants received individual dental check-ups and practical demonstrations of tooth brushing techniques using dental models. The purpose was to instill good oral hygiene habits at an early age and reduce the prevalence of common dental problems such as cavities and gum disease.
The house officers, divided into groups, visited each classroom to interact with the students in an engaging and friendly manner. The children learned the importance of regular brushing, healthy eating habits, and routine dental visits in maintaining strong and healthy teeth.
Expressing gratitude, the Principal of Shahwaliyat School appreciated JMDC’s community outreach efforts and highlighted the impact of such programs in shaping children’s understanding of health and hygiene. The principal commended the dental team for their dedication, professionalism, and compassionate approach toward promoting oral health awareness among young learners.
This outreach activity exemplifies JMDC’s leadership in preventive dentistry education and its ongoing mission to support public health through community engagement initiatives. By promoting early oral hygiene education, JMDC continues to play a key role in nurturing a healthier and more informed generation.
