FDI President reflects on progress and looks ahead to Shanghai 2025 Congress
In a letter to the global dental community, the President of the FDI World Dental Federation (FDI) Dr. Greg Chadwick, reviewed the organization’s performance over the past two years and cast a forward-looking vision toward the upcoming FDI World Dental Congress in Shanghai, scheduled for September 9–12, 2025.
The president highlighted key accomplishments during the two-year tenure, including expanded continuing education programs, strengthened public health advocacy, and enhanced global engagement across member associations. He noted how FDI’s initiatives have become more resilient and inclusive, especially through collaborations on oral health campaigns, digital learning platforms, and strategic partnerships to better reach under-served regions.
Looking ahead, the president emphasized that the FDI World Dental Congress in Shanghai—co-hosted with the Chinese Stomatological Association—will be a pivotal event for uniting the global oral health community. He wrote:
“We gather not just to showcase innovation, but to reinforce global partnerships and shape the future of dentistry.”
The Shanghai Congress promises a landmark experience, offering more than 100 CE-accredited sessions, immersive industry exhibitions, and dynamic networking opportunities across the 60,000 m² exhibition floor at the National Exhibition and Convention Center. Delegates will gain access to cutting-edge thought leadership, collaborative forums, and groundbreaking trends in dental education, technology, and professional practice.
As FDI transitions into its next chapter, the president’s letter called for continued collective effort:
“Together, we are leading the world toward optimal oral health—Shanghai will be where our shared vision transforms into action.”
