ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) has issued a strong and reassuring statement following the recent discussion in the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on National Health Services, affirming that students remain an integral part of the system and that their academic future will not be compromised under any circumstances.

PMDC acknowledged the concerns raised by students, parents, and stakeholders and confirmed that the Council is actively working on practical, system-strengthening measures to address them. The Council emphasized that maintaining uniform, transparent, and fair examination standards each year is a core priority, and its ongoing digitalization and standardization reforms are designed to ensure equal, merit-based opportunities for all candidates.

Key areas of action highlighted by PMDC

Uniform and transparent examination systems:
PMDC reiterated that all assessments will continue to follow standardized, fair, and digitally reinforced procedures to eliminate discrepancies and ensure credibility.

Legally sound strategy for vacant seats:
To prevent seat wastage, the Council is working closely with universities and the Law Division to finalize a transparent and legally robust mechanism that guarantees timely placement of eligible candidates.

Fairness for foreign-system students (Cambridge and others):
PMDC confirmed it is in active coordination with IBCC to ensure equitable, transparent, and fair grade conversions for Cambridge-system and other international board students.

The Council strongly reiterated that every student is an essential part of the country’s medical and dental education system, and protecting their academic interests is a responsibility PMDC takes seriously. It ensured that the Council will extend full cooperation at every forum to secure meaningful relief and clarity for students.

PMDC further reaffirmed that all decisions are guided by merit, transparency, national standards, and alignment with international benchmarks. The Council is committed to functioning as a professional, transparent, and student-centered regulator, dedicated to strengthening Pakistan’s medical and dental education system.

In closing, PMDC assured students nationwide that they will continue to receive complete support and that their academic pathways and future opportunities will remain safeguarded without compromise.
