LCMD creates history with Pakistan’s first national online dental presentation competition
KARACHI: The Liaquat College of Medicine and Dentistry (LCMD), for the first time in the history of dentistry in Pakistan, has launched the Inaugural National Dental Presentation Competition 2026 – Legacy Edition, a fully online, nationally integrated academic initiative that is redefining digital dental scholarship.

Organised by the Dental Outreach Department in collaboration with the Online Academic Committee (College of Dentistry) at LCMD, and supported by Bosch Pharmaceuticals, the competition represents one of the largest nationwide online academic dental activities ever conducted in Pakistan.
Unprecedented national participation
According to organisers, the competition has already received more than 170 video-based dental presentations from approximately 63 dental colleges across Pakistan, reflecting wide national engagement and academic diversity.
Participants include undergraduate dental students, postgraduate trainees, faculty members, general dentists, associates, and assistant professors, promoting vertical academic integration and collaborative learning at a national level.
Transparent, multi-phase academic evaluation
The competition follows a robust, transparent, and merit-driven four-phase structure, designed to ensure academic integrity and equal opportunity for all participants.
• Phase 1 – Academic screening (January 12–23, 2026):
All submissions undergo blind evaluation by expert academic panels using a standardized scoring rubric.
• Phase 2 – National digital showcase (January 27, 2026):
Accepted presentations are uploaded to the official YouTube playlist, ensuring equal national visibility for every participant.
• Phase 3 – Audience choice award (January 27–31, 2026):
Public engagement through structured YouTube-based voting determines the top audience choice winners.
• Phase 4 – Live national finale (February 4, 2026):
The top 20 finalists will deliver live online presentations via Zoom from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by jury deliberation and award announcements.
Awards and national recognition
The competition offers both jury awards and audience choice awards, reinforcing academic excellence and public engagement.
For undergraduates, the first prize is Rs. 1 lac, while postgraduates, faculty, and general dentists compete for a second prize of Rs. 50,000. Additionally, five consolation prizes of Rs. 5,000 each will be awarded.
Audience choice awards include cash prizes for the top two participants based on public voting. All participants will receive a digital presentation contributor certificate, while winners will be awarded a certificate of excellence.
A new benchmark for digital dental education
By combining blind academic review, national digital visibility, public engagement, and a live competitive finale, the LCMD-led initiative establishes a new national benchmark for online academic activities in dentistry.
Academic leaders say the competition reflects a growing shift toward transparent evaluation, research quality, and digital academic excellence, positioning Pakistan’s dental community for global academic alignment.
