JMDC conducts school-based dental check-ups to promote oral health awareness
KARACHI: The community dentistry team of Jinnah Medical and Dental College (JMDC) conducted a comprehensive school-based dental check-up and oral health awareness session at Roots Millennium School, Hillgate Campus, reinforcing JMDC’s commitment to preventive dentistry and child oral health promotion.
Under the supervision of Dr Muhammad Mohsin Haider, assistant professor and head of the community dentistry department, the team examined 235 students from playgroup to grade 4, ensuring early detection of oral health issues and timely guidance for caregivers.
Focus on preventive care, oral hygiene education
The dental team — consisting of demonstrators Dr Arish and Dr Usman, house officers Ehtsham ul Haq and Maliha Sajjad, and BS second-year students Mishkat Zahid and Khalood Khalid — provided age-appropriate oral health guidance throughout the session.
Children were given demonstrations on proper tooth brushing techniques using dental models, enabling them to learn the correct method through interactive, hands-on practice. The activity helped young learners understand the importance of early oral hygiene habits and daily preventive care.
School leadership appreciates JMDC initiative
The school principal expressed sincere appreciation for JMDC’s dedicated efforts, acknowledging the team’s role in spreading awareness and shaping healthier habits among children. The initiative reflects JMDC’s ongoing mission to enhance community oral health standards and support preventive dentistry interventions at the grassroots level.
