JMDC conducts oral health awareness and dental check-up at Quaid-e-Azam Rangers School
KARACHI: The department of community dentistry at Jinnah Medical and Dental College (JMDC) organized an oral health awareness session and dental check-up at Quaid-e-Azam Rangers School and College, as part of its preventive dentistry outreach initiative.
The activity was conducted by a dedicated team comprising demonstrators, house officers, and 2nd year BDS students, who examined nearly 370 students from the pre-primary and primary sections, aged between 5 and 12 years.
Students were divided into groups and assigned to different classes where they conducted oral examinations under the supervision of demonstrators and in coordination with respective class teachers. The initiative aimed to identify early dental issues and promote awareness about the importance of oral hygiene and preventive dental care from a young age.
During the session, the team conducted interactive demonstrations on proper tooth-brushing techniques using dental models, ensuring that children could visually understand and practice correct brushing methods. These hands-on demonstrations encouraged active participation, making learning about oral health both educational and enjoyable.
The Principal of Quaid-e-Azam Rangers School and College expressed heartfelt appreciation for JMDC’s efforts, acknowledging the team’s commitment to promoting oral health education and their role in shaping healthy dental habits among young learners.
The initiative reflects JMDC’s dedication to community engagement and preventive dentistry, aligning with its broader mission of improving oral health awareness and public dental health standards in Pakistan.
