ISLAMABAD: The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) has officially announced the introduction of its first-ever Fellowship Program in the discipline of Paediatric Dentistry, marking a significant expansion in postgraduate dental specialization in the country.

According to an official notification issued by the Office of the Secretary CPSP Prof. Irshad Waheed, the new fellowship program will take immediate effect and will be implemented under the approval of the competent authority within Pakistan’s medical and dental education regulatory framework.

The development represents a major milestone in structured specialist training for dental professionals, particularly in the field of child oral healthcare, which requires advanced clinical expertise and focused academic training.

Paediatric Dentistry is a critical branch of dentistry that deals with the oral health of infants, children, and adolescents, including those with special healthcare needs. The introduction of a formal fellowship program is expected to enhance standardized training, improve clinical competencies, and strengthen the overall quality of pediatric oral healthcare services in Pakistan.

CPSP, which is the country’s premier postgraduate medical training institution, continues to expand its fellowship and specialist training programs across various disciplines to align with evolving healthcare demands and international standards.

The notification further confirms that the program has been approved with the permission of the competent authority and will be officially communicated to all concerned stakeholders, including the CPSP President and relevant institutional channels.

Medical education experts view this move as an important step toward addressing the growing need for specialized pediatric dental care and structured postgraduate pathways for dental professionals in Pakistan.
