ISLAMABAD: The Department of Community and Preventive Dentistry at Shifa College of Dentistry recently organized a celebration for World Oral Health Day, aiming to raise public awareness about the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene. Although the official World Oral Health Day is observed globally on March 20, the event at Shifa College was rescheduled due to the holy month of Ramadan.

Engaging activities and community participation

The event featured a range of engaging activities led by 2nd-year BDS students, including poster displays to educate patients on key oral health issues. Quizzes and competitions were conducted to evaluate and enhance participants' knowledge about oral health and its impact on overall well-being.

The celebration concluded with a community awareness walk on Islamabad Expressway, where faculty members, students, and staff participated to promote oral health awareness to the broader community.

Collaboration with Colgate

The event was sponsored by Colgate, which contributed by distributing free dental hygiene kits to participants, emphasizing the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene practices.
