KARACHI: The department of community dentistry, in collaboration with the department of community health sciences (CHS), successfully organized a hands-on SPSS workshop for 2nd year BDS students at Jinnah Medical and Dental College (JMDC). The training session aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of biostatistics, data entry, and statistical analysis techniques, which are essential components in dental research and evidence-based practice.

The interactive workshop provided participants with practical exposure to SPSS software, enabling them to manage and interpret research data effectively. Under the expert guidance of faculty members, students learned how to apply statistical methods to real-world dental research scenarios, bridging the gap between theoretical learning and applied analytical skills.

Students expressed enthusiasm and gratitude for the opportunity to enhance their research literacy and analytical competence early in their academic journey. They appreciated the hands-on learning environment, which fostered deeper engagement and understanding of data-driven dental studies.

The session concluded with words of appreciation from the department of community dentistry, acknowledging the efforts of Dr. Syed Sanowar Ali and his team for their dedicated contribution to the academic growth and professional development of dental undergraduates.

This initiative reinforces JMDC’s commitment to academic excellence, skill-based learning, and evidence-based education. By integrating digital tools like SPSS into its curriculum, the institution continues to prepare future dentists to contribute to scientific research and improve clinical outcomes through data-informed decision-making.
