Altamash institute of dental medicine organizes basics of implantology workshop for students
KARACHI: The department of periodontology at Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine (AIDM) successfully organized a hands-on session titled “Basics of Implantology” for undergraduate students and house officers on October 23, 2025, sponsored by IZEN Implants.
The workshop aimed to introduce participants to the fundamental principles of implant dentistry and enhance their understanding of implant placement techniques through a blend of theory and practice.
Dr. Zaheer Hussain opened the session with an insightful lecture covering the core concepts of implantology, including case selection, treatment planning, and the step-by-step surgical protocol for implant placement. His presentation provided a strong academic foundation, preparing students for the clinical component of the session.
Following the lecture, a hands-on workshop was conducted in which Dr. Zaheer Hussain and Dr. Tahir Hamza demonstrated implant placement on mandibular models, guiding participants through each procedural step. Under their supervision, students practiced implant insertion techniques themselves, gaining valuable experience in precision, angulation, and bone assessment.
The practical segment was further facilitated by Dr. Hira Sherani and Dr. Aiman Khan, ensuring individual attention and feedback for each participant. The overall coordination and organization of the event were led by Dr. Alina Nensey.
The “Basics of Implantology” workshop underscored AIDM’s commitment to skill-based learning and academic excellence. By combining expert guidance with hands-on practice, the institute continues to bridge the gap between theory and clinical application, preparing future dentists to deliver high-quality implant care with confidence.
