PDA–DTMA summit in Lahore wraps up with innovation-led dentistry, student showcase, and nationwide industry momentum
LAHORE: Pakistan’s largest integrated dental gathering—bringing together the 8th DTMA Dental Exhibition and the 14th International, 34th National Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) Dental Conference—concluded on Sunday, December 28, 2025 at Expo Center Lahore, with organizers and exhibitors pointing to a clear takeaway: dentistry’s future is being shaped at the intersection of innovation, AI-enabled tools, and stronger collaboration between clinicians, academia and industry.
The three-day summit, jointly organized by the Dental Trade & Manufacturers Association Pakistan (DTMA) and the Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) under their MoU-led integrated format, drew steady crowds across conference halls and exhibition lanes—culminating in a final day that placed students, leadership development, practice management, and international career pathways at the heart of the agenda.
From inauguration to closing: a unified national platform
The summit opened on Friday, December 26, with a formal inauguration led by Dr Khurshid Ahmad, President PDA Central Council, alongside DTMA leadership, PDA Punjab and PDA Lahore representatives, and senior members of the dental community—signalling a unified national approach to education, policy dialogue and industrial growth under one roof.
Conference arc across three days
Across Day 1 and Day 2, the conference program leaned heavily toward practical, clinic-facing learning and policy discussion—starting with a PDA General Body Meeting and Scope of Practice Finalization and moving into high-yield sessions designed to support general practitioners and specialists alike.
Day 1 plenary sessions included:
• How to prevent complications in difficult extractions: a stepwise approach
• Complications of fixed prosthodontics: what, how and why
• The smart side of forensic dentistry
Day 2, widely expected to be the biggest footfall day due to the full weekend, built further momentum with a packed schedule spanning general dentistry and specialty tracks, reflecting the conference’s broader theme of professional renewal and practice-ready learning.
On Day 3 (Sunday), the scientific program spotlighted the next generation and the evolving realities of modern dental careers—combining student competitions with leadership and practice management sessions.
Running alongside the conference, the 8th DTMA Dental Exhibition remained the commercial engine of the summit—showcasing dental equipment, materials, instruments, implants, laboratory technologies, infection control systems, digital dentistry solutions, and practice management tools.
The trade floor was repeatedly framed by organizers as a high-value convergence point—where clinicians could compare technologies in real time, and exhibitors could engage decision-makers directly.
“AI has changed the pace of innovation”
Summing up the three-day exhibition impact, Nasir Feroze, CEO of Feroze Dental Supplies and General Secretary of DTMA, said the show once again proved itself as a mega-scale marketplace for technology and learning.
“The exhibition has once again proved a mega event. Dentists and dental experts from all over Pakistan came to participate. Exhibitors showcased new dental technology, and practitioners showed keen interest.”
What the three-day summit ultimately delivered
By the closing ceremony, the integrated PDA–DTMA format had reinforced a clear model:
- Policy and professional direction through association-led sessions
- Practice-ready learning across general and specialty dentistry
- Student pipeline visibility through competitions and leadership content
- Technology and procurement momentum via a packed exhibition floor
With growing attention on AI-assisted workflows, digital diagnostics, imaging, materials science, and modern practice-building, stakeholders positioned the summit as more than a calendar fixture—a national convergence that is reshaping how Pakistan’s dental ecosystem learns, buys, networks, and evolves.
