QUETTA: The Orthodontics Department at Bolan Dental College (BDC) has launched its clinical case presentation series with an insightful session on Functional Jaw Orthopaedics in Class II Malocclusion, reinforcing the institution's commitment to academic excellence and clinical leadership in orthodontics.

The session featured a presentation by Dr. Hafsa Naseer, a PGR-2 in the department, who explored the principles and practice of functional jaw orthopaedics. She discussed the use of functional appliances for skeletal correction and presented successfully treated Class II malocclusion cases, all managed under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Nasrullah Mengal, a leading figure in orthodontic education and clinical excellence in Pakistan.

Evidence-based learning at the core

Moderated by Prof. Dr. Nasrullah Mengal and Dr. Mehreen Butt, the session sparked dynamic discussions on clinical strategies, evidence-based protocols, and appliance efficacy. Faculty members and dental students contributed valuable perspectives, reflecting the collaborative and inclusive learning environment fostered by the department.

Prof. Dr. Mengal emphasized that the weekly clinical case series aims to instill a culture of lifelong learning, interdisciplinary knowledge sharing, and evidence-based orthodontic practice. He noted that such academic initiatives not only enhance clinical judgment but also prepare postgraduate residents to handle complex orthodontic cases with precision and confidence.
