Revolutionizing medical careers: IM&DC's pioneering session on AI in medicine
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Medical & Dental College (IM&DC), through its Career Development Office (CDO), successfully organized an enlightening academic session titled “Future-Proofing Your Medical Career: Why Your Degree Needs AI?” for medical and dental students, house officers, and faculty at the IM&DC Auditorium and Islamabad Dental Hospital (IDH). This session, focusing on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into healthcare, provided invaluable insights for all participants on how AI can enhance clinical practice, research, and career prospects in the rapidly evolving field of medicine and dentistry.
Dr. Usman Hadi, Assistant Professor at the School of Engineering, Ulster University, Belfast (UK), led the session, bringing his vast experience and expertise to the forefront. With an academic and research background that includes an MS and PhD from the University of Bologna, Italy, Dr. Hadi has made significant contributions to the field of AI in healthcare. His postdoctoral research at Aalborg University, Denmark, in collaboration with Nokia, and his role as a Visiting Researcher at ESIEE Paris and Nokia Bell Laboratories, place him among the top 2% of researchers globally. Since 2021, he has been ranked consistently among the top researchers, with over 80 publications to his name.
The event also saw the presence of key stakeholders from GAK HealthCare International, with Group CEO Yasir Khan Niazi and Executive Director Dr. Khurshid Ahmad, alongside other senior management personnel, attending the insightful sessions. Their participation underscored the growing significance of AI in modern healthcare and the increasing need for healthcare professionals to embrace this transformative technology.
