Newsweek recognizes leading oral health companies for global ESG impact in 2025

In its highly anticipated 2025 ranking of America’s Most Responsible Companies, Newsweek has recognized four major oral health companies—Colgate-Palmolive, Henry Schein, Envista, and Dentsply Sirona—for their outstanding environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) performance.

This annual ranking, developed in partnership with Statista, assessed 2,000 of the largest U.S.-based public companies using 30 key ESG indicators such as carbon footprint, charitable giving, employee well-being, and ethical supply chain practices. Over 26,000 U.S. consumers also participated in a reputation survey that contributed to the final scores.

Colgate-Palmolive – Score: 85.91

Colgate-Palmolive led among oral health firms, scoring high in environmental sustainability. The company received recognition for early carbon disclosure, 13 consecutive ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year awards, and continued inclusion in Ethisphere’s World’s Most Ethical Companies. Its 2023 Sustainability & Social Impact Report outlines strong commitments to climate action, water conservation, and community empowerment.

Henry Schein – Score: 73.99

Henry Schein was lauded for its social responsibility strategies, including its global emergency preparedness efforts. Named to Fortune’s “Change the World” list for the fourth time, the company launched a 2024 Relief Fund to aid Brazilian flood victims, showcasing how healthcare supply chains can support vulnerable populations in times of crisis.

Envista – Score: 72.45

With a portfolio of 30+ dental brands including Nobel Biocare and DEXIS, Envista reduced its Scope 1 greenhouse gas emissions by 26% in one year. It also supported mission trips and nonprofit initiatives through $1.3 million in donations via the Envista Smile Project, targeting underserved communities and advancing global oral health education.

Dentsply Sirona – Score: 69.21

In a groundbreaking move, Dentsply Sirona partnered with Amazon Doctors to open the first digital dental clinic in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, serving indigenous communities in Bertioga. Equipped with donated digital technology including intraoral scanners and CAD/CAM tools, the clinic provides up to 40 specialized appointments per week. This effort exemplifies how digital dentistry can bridge access gaps in remote regions.

Global relevance of ESG in oral healthcare

According to Newsweek Global Editor-in-Chief Nancy Cooper, the growing focus on ESG performance—especially in industries like healthcare and dental services—is driven by increasing public concern over climate change, ethical governance, and social inequality.

These recognitions not only reflect the industry’s movement toward sustainable oral healthcare but also highlight the critical role responsible corporations play in achieving health equity, community resilience, and climate-conscious growth.
