HYDERABAD: Prof. Dr. Navid Rashid Qureshi, Principal of the College of Dentistry at Liaquat College of Medicine & Dentistry (LCMD), has been conferred an Honorary Fellowship (FCPS) in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) at the 59th Convocation held in Hyderabad.
The second component of the CPSP’s 59th Convocation was held in Hyderabad on September 13, 2026, according to a CPSP notification. The ceremony brought together medical specialists and members receiving their postgraduate qualifications and recognition from the institution.
Prof. Dr. Qureshi expressed gratitude to the President and Council of CPSP. He described the fellowship as an honour shared with his teachers, colleagues and patients who had placed their trust in him throughout his professional career.
Recognition in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
The honorary fellowship recognises Prof. Dr. Qureshi in the field of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS), a specialty concerned with the surgical management of diseases, injuries and conditions involving the mouth, jaws, face and related structures.
Prof. Dr. Qureshi has been associated with oral and maxillofacial surgery education, clinical practice and postgraduate training for decades. The LCMD website identifies him as Principal of the College of Dentistry, Liaquat College of Medicine & Dentistry, as well as a Postgraduate Supervisor for CPSP and Ziauddin University.
His professional profile also includes academic and research involvement in oral and maxillofacial surgery. A study published in The Professional Medical Journal lists him among the authors of research on the clinicopathological profile of oral squamous cell carcinoma at a tertiary-care hospital in Karachi and identifies him as Principal and Head of Oral Surgery at LCMD.
Longstanding contribution to postgraduate dental education
Prof. Dr. Qureshi has also been involved in postgraduate training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at LCMD and its affiliated facilities.
LCMD documents show that the institution offers postgraduate training programmes in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery under the CPSP framework, with Prof. Dr. Qureshi among the supervisors involved in the programme.
His involvement in postgraduate education has included teaching, supervision and preparation of dental trainees for professional examinations. He has also participated in CPSP educational activities, including sessions on clinical teaching and learner-centred education.
CPSP honours Prof. Dr. Qureshi at Hyderabad convocation
The recognition came during the Hyderabad component of the 59th CPSP Convocation, which was attended by Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti, Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, as chief guest.
According to the Senate of Pakistan, more than 150 Fellows and Members received their qualifications at the Hyderabad ceremony. The senator described CPSP as a leading institution for postgraduate medical education in Pakistan and highlighted its role in professional standards, evaluation and academic training.
The Hyderabad ceremony formed the second component of CPSP’s 59th Convocation. The first component had been held at the CPSP headquarters in Karachi on February 6, 2026, where the college conferred degrees on 947 medical specialists.
LCMD congratulates its Principal
Following the conferment, the Management, faculty and staff of Liaquat College of Medicine & Dentistry and Darul Sehat Hospital extended congratulations to Prof. Dr. Qureshi on receiving the honorary fellowship.
