FAISALABAD: In a strong push to combat oral cancer through education and early intervention, PMC Dental Institute, in collaboration with Faisalabad Medical University (FMU) and Allied Hospital, observed Oral Cancer Awareness Month with a dynamic series of awareness activities.

The campaign kicked off with an informative seminar and a community walk aimed at raising awareness on the importance of early detection and prevention of oral cancer. The event was graced by Dr. Zafar Ali Chaudhry, Vice-Chancellor of FMU, who served as the Chief Guest.
The seminar featured powerful talks by eminent dental professionals, including Dr. Usman Khalid, Dean of Dentistry; Dr. Ali Tahir, Head of the Oral Pathology Department; and Dr. Naseem Akhtar, Head of Community Dentistry. Each speaker underscored the significance of preventive care, self-screening, and the role of public education in reducing the burden of oral cancer in Pakistan.

Taking awareness to the grassroots level, second-year Community Dentistry students conducted an outreach campaign at Allied Hospital, Faisalabad. These future dental professionals engaged with patients and the general public, distributing educational brochures and self-examination guides to encourage early diagnosis and treatment. The campaign received a positive response from both the hospital administration and visitors, showcasing the real-world impact of youth-led health education.
This initiative reflects PMC Dental Institute’s ongoing commitment to proactive oral healthcare and community service, empowering both professionals and the public with vital knowledge to prevent life-threatening conditions.
