Baqai Dental College hosts hands-on clear aligner training, certification course for emerging clinicians
KARACHI: The Baqai Dental College, in collaboration with ClearPath Institute, successfully conducted a hands-on clear aligner training and certification course designed to build clinical competency in digital orthodontics and modern aligner-based treatment planning. The program aligned with the latest global orthodontic standards and ensured participants gained practical skills alongside evidence-based knowledge.
The certification course was facilitated by Dr. Muhammad Uzair, Assistant Professor at Baqai Dental College and Key Opinion Leader for ClearPath Orthodontics, and Dr. Asma Asad, Consultant Orthodontist and Senior Registrar at Baqai Dental College. Their combined clinical and academic expertise strengthened the quality of teaching, offering participants reliable, authoritative and up-to-date guidance.
Key learning areas covered
The curriculum covered essential components of clear aligner therapy, including:
• Evolution and biomechanics of aligners
• Case selection guidelines and treatment planning
• CP SMART setup review
• Elastic button techniques
• PVS impression methods and IPR protocols
Participants also explored digital orthodontics workflows with detailed demonstrations and supervised hands-on sessions.
A major highlight of the course was the hands-on training component. Final-year BDS students, house officers, postgraduate trainees and registrars received guided practice in:
• Intraoral scanning and digital workflow integration
• Interproximal reduction (IPR) techniques
• Reviewing aligner setups for predictable biomechanical outcomes
These sessions allowed trainees to translate theoretical knowledge into clinical skills, boosting their readiness to manage aligner cases with precision and confidence.
