Mini CEX activity for FCPS residents conducted at Baqai Dental College
KARACHI: The Department of Operative Dentistry & Endodontics and the Department of Prosthodontics at Baqai Dental College jointly organized a Mini Clinical Evaluation Exercise (Mini CEX) for FCPS residents to assess their clinical competence in real-time settings.
The Mini CEX activity provided an opportunity for residents to demonstrate their clinical skills under direct observation while receiving constructive feedback from faculty supervisors. This interactive exercise aimed to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application, helping postgraduate trainees strengthen their diagnostic reasoning, treatment planning, and patient management abilities.
Faculty members assessed residents across multiple domains including clinical judgment, communication skills, professionalism, and procedural performance. Immediate, structured feedback was given to each participant, highlighting areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.
According to the organizers, the Mini CEX framework encourages reflection, self-assessment, and continuous professional development—essential elements for clinicians aiming to achieve excellence in patient care. The exercise also aligns with one of the core requirements set by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) for postgraduate residents pursuing the Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS) qualification.
Through such structured assessment initiatives, Baqai Dental College continues to reinforce its commitment to evidence-based dental education and competency-based clinical training, preparing future dental specialists to deliver safe, effective, and ethical care in real-world clinical environments.
