Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine organizes 3D model contest
KARACHI: The Department of Oral Biology at Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine (AIDM) held a 3D Model Contest on November 3, 2025, at the 6th Floor, AIDM Karachi, providing BDS students with a creative platform to translate oral biology concepts into innovative three-dimensional models.
The event, attended by senior leadership and faculty, underscored AIDM’s commitment to experiential, research-based dental education aligned with international standards. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Altamash and Dr. Shaheena Altamash graced the occasion, inspiring participants with their presence. Special acknowledgments were also made for Dr. Emaad Altamash, Prof. Dr. Hasnain Sakrani and Prof. Dr. Naseer Ahmed for their valuable attendance and support.
Prof. Dr. Sheema Farhan played a key coordinating role in the programme, while Prof. Dr. Sadia Hassan, Head, Department of Oral Biology, received appreciation for her leadership and efforts in organising the contest. The department expressed gratitude to all faculty members who contributed to and attended the event.
The models were evaluated by subject experts Dr. Fizza Saher and Dr. Saad Shaikh, who served as judges and provided constructive feedback to participating teams. The judges assessed entries on scientific accuracy, creativity, clarity of concept and practical relevance to oral biology.
Winning teams and projects
- 1st place: Keratin – The future of enamel repair.
- 2nd place: Regeneration of enamel within 48 hours using biomimetic liquid.
- 3rd place: Ameloglyphics.
The contest concluded with formal appreciation for the Oral Biology team and all participating students, recognising their creativity, scientific enthusiasm and dedication to learning. AIDM said the initiative reflects the college’s focus on practical training and research-oriented pedagogy that prepares BDS students for modern clinical and academic challenges.
The 3D Model Contest at AIDM is part of a growing trend in dental education to incorporate hands-on projects that bridge theoretical knowledge with visual, tangible demonstrations—enhancing student engagement, critical thinking and applied research skills.
