PMDC launches licensing system in Lahore to simplify registration for medical and dental professionals
LAHORE: In a major digital leap for healthcare regulation in Pakistan, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has officially launched its new licensing system in Lahore. Located at the PMDC regional office in Shaikh Zayed Medical Complex, this marks the first time the council is offering full-scale digital registration services outside its Islamabad headquarters.
This initiative aims to streamline and speed up the registration process for medical and dental graduates, practitioners, and specialists, ensuring greater transparency, efficiency, and accessibility across the board.
“This is a step towards accelerating the licensing process through PMDC’s regional offices,” said Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, President of PMDC. “By launching this initiative, we are empowering our doctors to begin their professional journeys without unnecessary delays.”
What the new Lahore PMDC office offers
All major services related to licensing and registration are now accessible at the PMDC Lahore Regional Office, including:
- New practitioner registration
- License renewals
- Good Standing Certificate issuance
- Duplicate certificate requests
- Practitioner record updates
Important note: Services related to teaching experience and practical training will still be handled at the Islamabad office.
Hands-on support for applicants
For doctors and dentists facing challenges with the online portal, dedicated support staff at the Lahore office are available to assist with application submissions and technical queries. The facility is designed to be user-friendly, allowing practitioners to complete registrations without hassle.
Additionally, original certificates will be delivered via TCS courier, while a copy may also be provided at the center for the applicant’s convenience.
Part of a national expansion plan
The Lahore launch is Phase I of PMDC’s broader strategy to decentralize licensing services:
- Phase II: Karachi and Peshawar
- Phase III: Jamshoro and Quetta
- Phase IV: Multan
This phased rollout is expected to make professional licensing services more accessible to healthcare providers across Pakistan, reducing regional disparities in access to regulatory support.
Why it matters
Until now, practitioners in Punjab had to travel to Islamabad to resolve registration or licensing queries — costing them time, money, and peace of mind. By moving these services to a regional digital facility, PMDC has responded to long-standing calls from the medical community for a more responsive and modern system.
