Few leaders combine clinical skill, academic insight, and a passion for systemic reform like Dr. Amna Jatoi. Recognized for her strategic vision and dedication to public health, she is shaping the future of healthcare leadership by bridging gaps between patient care, administration, and policy. Her approach reflects a commitment not only to treating patients but also to strengthening the institutions and systems that serve them.

Dr. Jatoi began her professional journey with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine, widely recognized as one of the leading dental institutions in the province. Her early clinical training gave her firsthand exposure to patient care and the realities of healthcare delivery. However, driven by a desire to create impact beyond individual treatment, she pursued an MBA in Health and Hospital Management from the Institute of Business Management (IoBM). IoBM is consistently ranked among Pakistan’s top business schools and holds the second position according to the Sindh Higher Education Commission. This transition marked a defining shift in her career, equipping her with the managerial insight required to improve healthcare operations at a systemic level. As Dr. Jatoi notes, “Sustainable improvements in patient care require strong leadership, efficient systems, and informed decision-making.”

Her professional experience includes serving at Kharadar General Hospital, one of Pakistan’s oldest and most respected healthcare institutions with a legacy of over a century. As Deputy Manager in the Administration Department, she oversaw medical and dental outpatient departments along with medical and surgical wards. Her responsibilities ranged from coordinating daily hospital operations to ensuring quality standards and organizing health camps and outreach initiatives for underserved populations. This hands-on administrative role deepened her understanding of structural challenges within healthcare delivery and reinforced her commitment to equity, access, and efficiency. Reflecting on this experience, she emphasizes, “Healthcare access is not just about infrastructure; it is built on trust, awareness, and continuity of care.”

Currently, Dr. Jatoi serves as a faculty member and Coordinator of the MBA program at the Institute of Business and Health Management (IBHM), Dow University of Health Sciences. In this role, she teaches and mentors Executive MBA students many of whom are mid- to senior-level healthcare professionals, guiding them to lead with ethical responsibility and strategic vision. She actively supervises research in areas such as healthcare management, hospital operations, and policy reform, promoting evidence-based solutions to real-world challenges. Beyond the university, she contributes to IBHM’s outreach initiatives by conducting career counselling sessions in schools, encouraging young students to explore informed and meaningful careers in healthcare.

In parallel with her academic work, Dr. Jatoi serves as Consultant for Healthcare Affairs for Pakistan Muslim League (N) Sindh, one of the country’s most influential political parties. In this capacity, she acts as a bridge between healthcare professionals, policymakers, and communities to promote collaborative solutions. She has played a key role in organizing child immunization campaigns, public health awareness sessions, and free medical camps, mobilizing volunteer doctors and ensuring access to free consultations and essential medicines for marginalized communities. “Healthcare reform is never an individual effort,” she explains. “It requires collaboration across sectors and sustained engagement with the public.”

Balancing education, administration, policy involvement, and community service is demanding, yet Dr. Amna Jatoi views each role as part of a shared mission. “Whether I am teaching, managing, or working in the field, my goal remains the same to strengthen healthcare leadership and foster a more compassionate and effective system.”

In a landscape where many healthcare professionals remain confined to clinical practice alone, Dr. Amna Jatoi stands out as a transformative leader. Her journey reflects how vision, empathy, and multidisciplinary expertise can shape healthcare one student, one institution, and one community at a time.
