KARACHI: Dow International Dental College (DIDC), Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), celebrated the completion of house-job training and showcased young dental researchers at its House Job Certificate Distribution Ceremony and 5th House Officer Research Day 2026.
Held at the DIDC Chanesar Campus, the event brought together the college's 2026 House Officers to mark their clinical training achievements and highlight research projects presented during the fifth edition of the House Officer Research Day.
The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Nazli Hossain, Vice Chancellor, Dow University of Health Sciences, who served as the Chief Guest, while Prof. Dr. Amynah Charana Shaikh, Principal, Dow International Dental College, led the event.
The programme combined two milestones for the graduating House Officers: the completion of their house-job training and an opportunity to present research undertaken across different departments of the dental college.
Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery project takes first prize
The research competition featured projects from various departments of Dow International Dental College, with the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery department securing the First Prize.
The winning research project was titled “CCN1 Expression and Its Association with Field Cancerization in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma.”
The study title reflects research into CCN1 expression and its association with field cancerization in oral squamous cell carcinoma, placing oral cancer research among the key academic highlights of this year's House Officer Research Day.
The Second Prize was awarded to the General Pathology department.
The Third Prize went to the Dental Materials department for its project titled “Bio functional Modification of Restorative GIC with Miswak Extract.”
Together, the winning projects represented research interests spanning oral cancer, pathology and dental materials, demonstrating the range of subjects explored by House Officers during the research day.
House Officers showcase clinical and academic progress
The event was also a recognition of the clinical and academic journey completed by the 2026 House Officers.
