LAHORE: In a significant step toward strengthening Pakistan’s dental research ecosystem, the Fatima Jinnah Institute of Dental Sciences (FJIDS) has officially launched its own peer-reviewed academic publication, the JFJIDS Journal, marking a new chapter in institutional research leadership and evidence-based dental education.
The launch places FJIDS among a select group of public sector dental institutions in Pakistan that have established an independent research journal, reinforcing the institute’s long-term commitment to academic credibility, ethical research practices, and knowledge generation within the dental and oral health sciences.
The initiative has been undertaken under the academic leadership of Dean Prof. Dr. Armaghan Mirza, with strategic and operational support from Dr. Muhammad Azeem, Director DME, and Prof. Dr. M Waseemullah Khan, Director Research. The leadership team emphasized that the journal is designed to serve as a structured platform for high-quality dental research rather than a routine institutional publication.
With the journal’s official website and Online Journal System (OJS) now live, FJIDS has opened submissions to dental professionals, academicians, and researchers across Pakistan and beyond. The platform supports transparent manuscript handling, peer review, and editorial oversight in line with internationally accepted academic publishing standards.
The JFJIDS Journal will publish original research articles, review papers, case reports, and scholarly contributions, with a focus on promoting locally generated evidence, encouraging postgraduate research, and improving the overall quality of dental literature emerging from Pakistan.
Academic sources at FJIDS noted that the journal’s launch reflects a broader institutional vision to embed research into clinical training, faculty development, and policy-relevant scholarship. By investing in a dedicated publishing platform, the institute aims to nurture young researchers, strengthen mentorship, and contribute credible data to regional and global dental discourse.
The launch of the JFJIDS Journal also aligns with national priorities to enhance research output from public sector medical and dental institutions, ensuring that clinical practice and education remain grounded in scientific evidence and ethical inquiry.
