MIRPURKHAS: The Department of Community and Preventive Dentistry at Bhitai Dental & Medical College (BDMC) successfully conducted an oral health outreach program at MS School System, Mirpurkhas, reaffirming its commitment to community welfare and preventive dental education.
Led by esteemed faculty members Prof Dr. Syed Mumtaz Ali, Dr. Saleem Ali, Dr. Safiullah Daheri, Dr. Muttia Arshad, and Dr. Ahsan Iqbal, along with a dedicated team of 3rd year BDS students, the initiative aimed to promote oral hygiene awareness and preventive care among schoolchildren.
Promoting preventive dentistry through outreach
The event focused on enhancing children’s understanding of oral hygiene practices, including proper brushing techniques, dietary awareness, and the importance of regular dental checkups. The dental team provided informative sessions and practical demonstrations to encourage lifelong healthy habits.
In addition to raising awareness, the outreach also served as a valuable learning experience for BDMC’s dental students, who actively engaged with the community under faculty supervision, strengthening their practical understanding of public health dentistry.
Collaboration and community impact
The event was made memorable through the generous support of Colgate Palmolive Pakistan, which distributed oral care gifts to participating students, helping reinforce positive dental hygiene behaviors.
The management of Bhitai Dental & Medical College also played a crucial role in facilitating logistics, ensuring that the outreach program ran smoothly and effectively.
This initiative reflects BDMC’s ongoing mission to extend oral health education beyond the classroom, bringing tangible benefits to the community and nurturing the next generation of socially responsible dental professionals.
