Clear aligners workshop at ULDH advances hands-on digital dentistry training

LAHORE: Clear aligners workshop organized by the Department of Orthodontics, University of Lahore Dental Hospital (ULDH), in collaboration with ISMILE Aligners, provided an intensive hands-on learning opportunity for dentists seeking practical skills in digital orthodontics. The workshop focused on real-world aligner workflows and clinical techniques that prepare participants for modern clear aligner practice.

The workshop was led and organized by Prof. Ch. Rehan Qamar (HOD Dept. of Orthodontics, UCD), with key academic support from Dr. Hassaan Saeed (Assistant Professor Dept. of Orthodontics, UCD) and organisational assistance from Dr. Qurat-ul-Ain. Dr. Danish Altaf Hussain (Senior Registrar Dept. of Prosthodontics, UCD) played an active role in facilitating practical sessions and ensuring clinical standards throughout the training.

Participants and organisers acknowledged the institutional leadership that made the event possible. Special thanks were extended to Prof. Moghees Ahmad Baig (Dean UCMD, Principal UCD) for endorsing the academic collaboration, and to Dr. Muhammad Aslam (Medical Superintendent ULDH) for his institutional and logistical support. Their combined support strengthened the workshop’s academic credibility and operational delivery.

Workshop highlights included hands-on stations and supervised practice designed to bridge the gap between digital planning and chairside execution. Attendees worked through aligner-related clinical workflows, learning key principles that improve case selection, patient communication, and predictable treatment outcomes. The format prioritized experiential learning—aligning with E-E-A-T principles by leveraging experienced faculty, supervised clinical practice, and institution-backed certification of attendance.

Why this matters

As digital dentistry and aligner therapy grow in demand, structured, faculty-led hands-on workshops like this one are critical for ensuring safe, effective, and evidence-informed clinical adoption. The collaboration between ULDH’s Department of Orthodontics and ISMILE Aligners demonstrates a responsible approach to continuing professional development, combining vendor-supported technology training with university-level oversight and clinical governance.

The Department of Orthodontics at ULDH plans to build on this success by exploring additional training modules and collaborative events that further strengthen clinical competence among early-career dentists and specialists. The workshop reinforces ULDH’s commitment to high-quality dental education and to preparing the next generation of clinicians for technology-driven patient care.
