ISLAMABAD: In a bold display of commitment to patient safety and professional integrity, the next generation of Pakistan’s dentists is making waves. At Rawal Institute of Health Sciences, dental students have taken a stand—not just on campus, but for the future of ethical healthcare nationwide. Through innovative, thought-provoking presentations, they tackled critical issues from patient rights and medical law to ethical care for children and special needs patients, signaling a new era where ethical practice is as vital as clinical skill.

In a display of creativity, knowledge, and professional commitment, the Community Dentistry Department of Rawal Institute of Health Sciences hosted a landmark Poster Competition on Ethics, inspiring dental students to rethink the foundations of safe and responsible healthcare.
Medical ethics forms the backbone of clinical practice — guiding dentists to respect patient autonomy, maintain confidentiality, secure informed consent, and deliver care with beneficence and justice. Recognizing the need to transform theoretical knowledge into practical understanding, the department organized this competition under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Rubina Mumtaz (HOD, Community Dentistry), Dr. Adeela Awan (Assistant Professor), Dr. Aatir Mujeeb (Senior Registrar), Dr. Aleeza Tayyab, and Dr. Umar Zaman (Demonstrators).
Interactive learning at its best
Nine student groups passionately presented creative and informative posters covering critical topics including the Nuremberg Code, Declaration of Helsinki, Ethics and Law, Quackery, and Ethical Care for Children and Special Needs Patients. The event fostered critical thinking, teamwork, and professional development beyond routine lectures, shaping future dentists as ethical and accountable practitioners.
