KARACHI: The Fatima Jinnah Dental College (FJDC) has taken the lead in driving the conversation on artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare at the Badar Healthcare Expo & Exhibition 2025, where one of the most widely attended sessions explored the future of digital health in Pakistan.

On Day 3 – Session 7:

“Digital Health & AI – Need for Following International Trends,” distinguished panelists shed light on the opportunities and challenges of adopting AI-powered health solutions. The session was moderated by Prof. Dr. Syed Shahid Noor and featured notable experts including Dr. Abid Abbas Sheikh (SMBBIT), Mr. Bilal Amjad (Instacare, Lahore), Dr. A. Salam Khan (Shifa International, Islamabad), Mr. Muhammad Akbar Raza (DigiTrends), and Prof. Dr. Syed Hussain Askary, CEO of FJDC.

Professor Askary emphasized the urgent need to leverage AI-driven diagnostics, predictive analytics, and smart medical record systems to bridge Pakistan’s growing healthcare divide. He highlighted that rural populations remain underserved and that AI has the potential to reimagine healthcare delivery equitably if adopted inclusively and ethically.

“AI may be the solution to a lot of our problems—but only if adopted inclusively, ethically, and systemically,” he said.

Dr. Askary also called for nationwide electronic health records and policy reforms integrating AI with human-centered care, particularly in marginalized communities.
