Orthognathic surgical seminar at AIDM focuses on teamwork and planning

KARACHI: The Department of Orthodontics, Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine (AIDM), organized an insightful orthognathic surgical seminar recently. The academic session was designed to enhance understanding of treatment planning, teamwork, and interdisciplinary collaboration in orthognathic surgery — a vital component in the management of dentofacial deformities.

The seminar commenced with an opening ceremony led by Prof. Dr. Ambreen Afzal, Dean AIDM and Vice President CPSP, who warmly welcomed the distinguished speakers and participants. In her address, she highlighted the importance of comprehensive treatment planning and seamless coordination between orthodontists and maxillofacial surgeons to ensure both functional and aesthetic success in complex surgical cases.

The keynote session featured eminent speakers Prof. Dr. Noor-ul-Wahab, Head of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Ziauddin Hospital, and Prof. Dr. Syed Shah Faisal, Dean KMU and Allied, who elaborated on the principles of orthognathic surgery. Their presentations were enriched with real clinical cases and emphasized the importance of patient-specific treatment planning and collaborative surgical execution.

Adding academic depth to the event, the expert panel discussion included Dr. Hasnain Sakrani (Principal AIDM), Dr. Dinaz Gandhi (Head of Maxillofacial Department, AIDM), and Dr. M. Muzammil, who shared their experiences and clinical insights.
