JMDC Community Dentistry team promotes oral health awareness at Luminary Learning Circle
KARACHI: In a proactive effort to instill healthy habits early on, the Community Dentistry team of Jinnah Medical and Dental College (JMDC) conducted an Oral Health Awareness session and dental check-up at Luminary Learning Circle Foundation, Javed Miandad Campus, Karachi. The session, led by Dr. Muhammad Mohsin Haider, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Community Dentistry, aimed to teach young students the importance of oral hygiene and preventive dental care.
The event was a hands-on learning experience for students, as the Community Dentistry team worked closely with the school's administration to engage students from grades 1 through 5. The session, which focused on early intervention and education, saw a total of 340 students being examined. Dr. Arish Sohail and Aimen Imran, along with four House Officers—Zarmeena, Hamna, Anoosha, and Sadia—visited classrooms, where they conducted thorough oral health checkups, ensuring that each student received personalized attention and care.
Demonstrating proper tooth-brushing techniques was one of the key highlights of the event. Using dental models, the team showed the children the correct brushing techniques, helping them understand how to maintain proper oral hygiene. This interactive demonstration played a significant role in making dental care more relatable and engaging for the young participants.
