KARACHI: Liaquat College of Medicine & Dentistry (LCMD) recorded a strong competitive showing at the Dental Experience Expo and Summit 2026, with its students, house officers and an alumna securing eight podium positions across Dental Photography, Composite Studio, Dental Bingo and Public Speaking.
The event, held recently at the Expo Center, brought together participants across a range of dental and communication-based competitions. LCMD's post-event announcement highlighted four first-position and four second-position finishes, reflecting achievements across different stages of undergraduate and early professional training.
Among the first-position winners, Taha Riaz, a Final Year BDS student, secured 1st Position in the Dental Photography Competition. The category recognised participants for their ability to use photography as a medium for presenting dental subjects and clinical perspectives.
Rehan Naveed, a 2nd Year BDS student, won 1st Position in Composite Studio, giving LCMD another top finish in a competition centred on restorative dentistry-related skills and presentation.
In Dental Bingo, Nimra Taj, a 2nd Year BDS student, secured 1st Position, adding to the college's tally of top awards at the event.
LCMD also claimed a first-place honour in communication, with Shaheer Asim, a Final Year BDS student, securing 1st Position in Public Speaking Studio. His win added a non-clinical dimension to the college's achievements, highlighting performance in professional communication alongside dental and creative categories.
The institution's second-position results were equally spread across its participants.
Dr. Roha Shakeel, House Officer, was listed as a 2nd Position winner in Dental Bingo, while Dr. Tehreen Fatima, House Officer, also secured 2nd Position in Dental Bingo. Their results gave LCMD multiple podium placements within the same competition category.
In the Dental Photography Competition, M. Hashim Gazdar, a Final Year BDS student, secured 2nd Position, complementing Taha Riaz's first-place result and giving LCMD two recognised performers in the photography category.
The college's alumni representation also produced a podium finish. Dr. Shumaila Aziz, LCMD Alumna, secured 2nd Position in Composite Studio, joining Rehan Naveed's first-place finish in the same competition and extending LCMD's representation beyond current students and house officers.
Taken together, the results gave LCMD two podium finishes in Dental Photography, two in Composite Studio and three in Dental Bingo, along with a first-position award in Public Speaking Studio.
The winning group also reflected different stages of the dental education pathway. The recognised participants included second-year BDS students, final-year BDS students, house officers and an alumna, giving the institution representation from undergraduate training through early professional practice.
According to LCMD's post-event message, the achievements reflected the dedication, talent, creativity and hard work of the participants who represented the college at the Dental Experience Expo and Summit 2026.
The institution congratulated its winners and participants for their performances across the competition floor, describing the results as a source of pride for the LCMD community.
Beyond the medals and rankings, the range of categories also demonstrated how contemporary dental education increasingly extends beyond traditional written examinations and routine clinical assessments. Dental photography, restorative creativity, academic engagement and public speaking are becoming increasingly relevant skills for young dentists expected to communicate clinical work, present ideas and participate confidently in professional forums.
For LCMD, the eight podium finishes marked a particularly broad performance, with its representatives earning recognition in every competition category highlighted in the college's official post-event announcement.
