KARACHI: Fatima Jinnah Dental College (FJDC) recently held a workshop titled, ‘Use of MOODLE for conducting paper-less examinations’ for its faculty.
Moodle has been a learning management system used for blended learning, distance education and other E-learning projects in schools, universities and workplaces.
FJDC has been successfully conducting online classes even before the pandemic hit the world. FJDC stated that their online education was convenient, and the students could concentrate on the lectures more effectively in a short period. They had state of art IT lab with 100 stations, which makes such training easier.
The session aimed to introduce MOODLE as an examination medium for on-campus, paper-less examinations of students and to familiarize the faculty with the use of their official MOODLE accounts and various features of this teaching software. It also aimed to bring all the faculty members on board with the use and utilization of MOODLE and Notepad.

Dr Gulrukh Askary, Associate Professor and Head of Oral Pathology Department, FJDC, facilitated the MOODLE workshop.
Dr Gulrukh incorporated the on-spot practice exercises to ensure the complete understanding and handling of MOODLE & Notepad. She encouraged the faculty members to explore and suggest different options on MOODLE for maximum benefits and reduction of chances of errors.
At the end of the workshop, all the attendees were comfortable and familiarized with operating MOODLE and were highly appreciative.
