LAHORE: Laser dentistry, dental implantology, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital clinical workflows took centre stage as the Dental Nexus Summit 2026 brought together leading dental academics, clinicians, international experts and practising professionals at The University of Lahore, offering a multidisciplinary platform for scientific exchange, practical training and discussions on the changing landscape of modern dentistry in Pakistan.
Jointly organised by the Institute of Advanced Dental Studies and Research (IADSR) and Pak Academy of Laser – THE FACE, in collaboration with The University of Lahore and UMDC, the summit focused on integrating emerging technologies into contemporary dental practice while strengthening clinical knowledge, professional skills and evidence-based decision-making.
The programme brought together specialists from different areas of dentistry and facial aesthetics, reflecting the growing intersection of technological innovation, clinical expertise and patient-centred treatment. Its scientific agenda covered laser-assisted procedures, dental implantology, artificial intelligence, digital dentistry, smile design and facial aesthetic applications.
Among the distinguished speakers were Prof. Dr. Ayyaz Ali Khan, Prof. Dr. Arshad Mehmood Malik, Dr. Waqas Javied Malik, Dr. Quratul-Ain Zafar, Dr. Irfan Qureishi and Dr. Islam Qasim, alongside other national and international specialists who shared their clinical experience and perspectives on emerging developments in their respective fields.
A particularly engaging feature was the inclusion of live, on-stage clinical demonstrations, allowing participants to observe the application of modern dental technologies and techniques beyond conventional classroom and lecture-based learning.
The demonstrations covered laser-assisted clinical procedures, digital intraoral scanning, computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), smile design and facial aesthetic applications. By bringing these techniques into a live demonstration setting, the summit offered participants an opportunity to understand how digital tools and advanced technologies can be incorporated into clinical workflows, treatment planning and patient care.
The official inauguration of the Pakistan Association of Laser Dentistry (PALD) marked another major development at the summit. Established as a platform to advance laser education, scientific research, professional development and international collaboration, the association aims to strengthen the professional and academic standing of laser dentistry in Pakistan.
Its inauguration represents an opportunity to bring dental professionals together around specialised education, research and the wider clinical application of laser technology, while encouraging greater engagement with international developments in the field.
Practical skill development was another central component of the programme, with dedicated hands-on workshops covering Laser Dentistry, Smile Design, Botox and Dermal Fillers, and Regenerative Aesthetic Techniques.
The interactive sessions enabled participants to explore contemporary treatment approaches, strengthen their understanding of clinical protocols and gain supervised practical exposure under experienced trainers. The workshop programme also reflected the expanding scope of multidisciplinary dental practice, where conventional clinical disciplines increasingly intersect with digital technology and facial aesthetics.
As co-organiser, IADSR contributed to the academic development of the summit, drawing on its focus on postgraduate dental education, clinical training and research. The institute supported the scientific programme and encouraged the participation of postgraduate trainees and young clinicians, creating opportunities for emerging professionals to engage with experienced practitioners and contemporary clinical developments.
The collaboration between IADSR, Pak Academy of Laser – THE FACE, The University of Lahore and UMDC also highlighted the importance of academic institutions and professional organisations working together to expand access to advanced dental education and practical clinical learning.
The summit attracted participation from professionals across multiple disciplines, creating opportunities for networking, knowledge-sharing and discussions on how emerging technologies can be translated into everyday clinical practice.
The organisers acknowledged the contributions of the speakers, faculty members, academic partners, participants, volunteers and supporting institutions, whose involvement helped bring the scientific programme and practical sessions together.
With its combination of scientific presentations, live demonstrations, hands-on workshops and the inauguration of PALD, the Dental Nexus Summit 2026 provided a platform for examining the opportunities and challenges shaping technology-driven dentistry in Pakistan.
