KARACHI: Around 60 final-year dental students at Hamdard University Dental Hospital received practical exposure to rotary endodontics through an advanced hands-on workshop organised by the hospital’s Department of Operative Dentistry, giving undergraduates an opportunity to work with rotary instrumentation as part of their clinical training.
The workshop was held under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Syed Abrar Ali, with the stated aim of familiarising students with advanced rotary endodontic systems and strengthening their understanding of contemporary root canal treatment techniques.
Unlike a session limited to classroom instruction, the workshop included practical participation, with students performing rotary endodontic procedures themselves. The organisers described the activity as a significant step towards introducing advanced rotary endodontic training at the undergraduate level.
Around 60 final-year students took part and completed the hands-on component, gaining practical exposure to an area of clinical dentistry in which familiarity with instrumentation and technique is important to treatment delivery.

The workshop was conducted by Prof. Dr. Syed Abrar Ali alongside a team comprising Dr. Hina Hammad Khan, Dr. Fariha Irfan, Dr. Shafaq, Dr. Waqas, Dr. Hamza, Dr. Zainab, Dr. Aqsa, Dr. Arqam, Dr. Yousuf, Dr. Nimra, Dr. Muneeza, Dr. Afeefa, Dr. Hina Nafees, Dr. Maham, Dr. Aleena, Dr. Iqra and Dr. Ayesha.
The team supported the students throughout the activity, helping deliver an informative and practical learning experience with a focus on clinical relevance.
Support staff also contributed to the organisation and delivery of the workshop. They included Mr. Rizwan, Mr. Saabir, Miss Kaukab, Mr. Taimoor, Mr. Waqas and Mr. Abdul Wahid.

Dr. Imran, Principal of Hamdard University Dental Hospital, attended the workshop as Chief Guest and appreciated the efforts of Prof. Dr. Syed Abrar Ali and the entire organising team.
His presence highlighted the hospital’s support for academic activities that provide students with opportunities to develop practical skills alongside their undergraduate studies.
